Tree Planting - April 21st & 28th

Thank you to all our Holladay Rotary members who joined our past two Tree Planting events celebrating Arbor Day! Both schools, Howard Driggs Elementary and Crestview Elementary, welcomed us and allowed us to interact with the kids as we learned how to care for trees together. We want to thank Holladay City Tree and Tree Utah for your support and collaboration in making these events a success! Here are some fun pictures of the two events.

Holladay City Hall Social

This July, we had our first Potluck Social at the Holladay City Hall with members from other local rotary clubs.  We welcomed Mary French as our special guest, who spearheaded The Dictionary Project, which the Holladay Rotary Club has supported annually for decades.  The Dictionary Project is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization that is working toward providing a dictionary to every student in the United States.  The goal of this program is to assist all students in becoming good writers, active readers, creative thinkers, and resourceful learners by providing them with their own personal dictionary.  Meeting with Mary was a delight, and a great reminder that each of us can make an immense impact on the world with dedication and perseverance.

Olympus Pines Park Cleanup

Olympus Pines Park Cleanup

We had a fun service project cleaning up Olympus Pines Park on a beautiful Saturday in May.  We had a good group and everyone worked in tandem.  One person held the bag and the other scooped the debris in.  Lots of raking, sneezing and great conversation.  Yes, allergy season was in full bloom.

Family Support Center - Easter

Family Support Center - Easter Service Project

This Easter, we teamed up with the South Jordan Rotary club to help stuff eggs for the Family Support Center.  The Family Support Center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit agency dedicated to strengthening families through providing education, resources, and support to alleviate stress and diffuse the possibility of domestic violence and abuse.  In 2021, the Family Support Center helped over 450 families across Salt Lake County

Dictionary Project

The Dictionary Project

The Dictionary Project is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization with the goal of assisting all students in becoming good writers, active readers, creative thinkers, and resourceful learners by providing them with their own personal dictionary. The dictionaries are a gift to each student to use at school and at home for years to come. Educators see third grade as the dividing line between learning to read and reading to learn, so sponsors are encouraged to give dictionaries each year to children in the third grade.

Olympus Pines Park

The weather finally cooperated for our annual cleanup of Olympus Pines Park, home of the the largest Austrian Pines in the United States.  Rotarians de-thatched the grounds, picked up trash, pulled weeds and filled up over 20 trash bags to rebeautify the park.

Holladay Square Cleanup

The Holladay Rotary Club had planned for a group litter cleanup for our March service project, but unfortunately the weather forecast rained on our parade and the project had to be pushed to April.  Luckily a few of our amazing members were still able to get out before the storm hit and cleaned up the Holladay Plaza.

Utah Food Bank

This February 2021, the Holladay Rotary club had another successful service project at the Utah Food Bank.  360 boxes were filled by 2 groups of volunteers to feed 360 families in need.  With the pandemic, food insecurity is more prevalent then ever.  Thanks to our  volunteers for helping these families in our community!
